Meet Our Board
Kimberley Studer
Founder/President
Kim Studer is an experienced educator with a master’s degree in education and a passion for helping students become confident, capable learners. She has taught and worked with students in public, private, and homeschool settings and has extensive experience supporting children who struggle with reading.
Through years of teaching and tutoring, Kim has seen how the right instruction—particularly strong foundations in phonics, decoding, and reading skills—can change a child’s confidence as well as academic success. She has also worked closely with parents, helping families understand their child’s needs and find practical ways to support learning at home.
Kim founded ReadOnLearning to make personalized, high-quality educational support more accessible to children and families in the community.
Rachelle Byrd
Secretary
Rachelle Byrd brings both a parent’s perspective and professional experience in caring for others to the ReadOnLearning board. As an emergency room nurse, she understands the importance of listening carefully, responding to individual needs, and supporting families through challenges.
Rachelle is the mother of three daughters—one in college, one in high school, and one in middle school. Her family has experienced public, private, and homeschool education, giving her a broad and practical understanding of the different paths families may take to meet their children’s educational needs.
Her experience as both a parent and healthcare professional brings compassion, insight, and a strong family-centered perspective to ReadOnLearning.
April Cheyne
Treasurer
April Cheyne brings a diverse background in business, higher education, and family advocacy to the ReadOnLearning board. Now retired, she has owned her own company and has worked with several organizations throughout her career, including East Tennessee State University.
As the mother of three, April also understands the many stages and challenges families encounter as their children grow. Her family experiences include supporting a child who served in the military and seeing her youngest recently graduate.
Most importantly to ReadOnLearning’s mission, April has firsthand experience advocating for a child with special needs and navigating the educational system to ensure that child received a quality education. That experience gives her a deep appreciation for the persistence, resources, and individualized support that can make a meaningful difference for a child and family.
